Once upon a time a House Spirit lived in this lane, guarding the homes and keeping the hearth of peace and love alight in them. But the draughts of history destroyed everything. The sad House Spirit huddled in the dark ruins, longing to have a cosy home again. And so it happened! When a favourable wind blew, the lane came back to life. The House Spirit returned and once more began to look after it, kindling the fire of warmth. Out of joy that all this had come to pass, a magical spring gushed forth, endowed with special powers.
