On February 19, at 6 p.m., „TaDas art gallery“ presents the joint exhibition „RaistoRastis“ by artists Martynas Gediminas and Tadas Gutauskas.
Dr. Vytautas Tumėnas on the exhibition:
„The joint exhibition of paintings by Martynas Gediminas and ceramics by Tadas Gutauskas combines Martynas’ experimental abstract paintings on wood, which create a mystical, decoratively flat, yet profound spatiality, with Tadas’ spatial, ornamented, silhouetted, openwork polychrome glazed ceramic sculptures (from the ArcheShapes series). Gediminas’ paintings, using layers of sprayed and printed paint, reflect on the elements of the primary forms of nature. This painting naturally blends in with Gutauskas’ multicolored and shiny ceramic sculptures, in which ornamentation and form create a spatial, symbolic structure. The ceramic works poeticize the mystical connection between nature and the spiritual origins of human vitality, their birth and growth.
Reflecting on the cosmogony of nature, flora, and geology, the artists use the metaphor of a swamp as a thickened geological, aquatic, and vegetal environment. Their artworks speak of a flat, still formless mass of earth and clay, swamp mud, oil, or fiery lava, which swirls, splashes, expands, and grows. From these primitive, undefined substances arises a writhing, struggling life that, taking on biomorphic and anthropomorphic forms, rises upward toward the sky.“
The exhibition will run until March 19.
